Loved these photos and the article was very interesting. I’ve nver really wanted to visit france, but these every day pics make me want to see it!

I want to make some of these holiday spirits, but maybe just keep them for myself.
I was happy to hear that Eddie Izzard let us know what pronouns she prefers. I also really liked hearing about her gender journey.
There were some interesting alternatives to buying wrapping paper in this Treehugger Article.
I picked up this Baba’s Kombucha the other day and it was SO good! I can’t stop thinking about it. It’s locally made in PA, and I got it near the NJ/PA border. I have to find out where to get it locally.

I love, love, love beach towns in the off season, Gee, I wonder why?
On the theme of things I love, here is a thought provoking (to me) little article about how to rethink Main Streets.
Restaurants tuning into groceries and cocktails to go.
And here are some small towns you DON’T want to visit.
This was a neat look at interesting stage sets. Seeing things like this always makes me wish I was in set design or fabrication.

I saw this play when I was young and I hated it. Seeing this set makes me think I should revisit An Inspector Calls.

Seeing these pics of fireflies makes me long Summer.
Speaking of the Spring and Summer, I’m excited to go on a mushroom walk when the weather is right. I love mushrooms, but can’t eat them, so my walk is only to observe. Here is a rather long article, with some pearls of knowledge.
I loved this little video about making a dress out of mangoes to highlight food waste.
I’ve moved on to another Miss Marple book on tape. I don’t love the narrator as much as the first two, but it’s still good.
Are my cats my familiars?

Think of all the plants left behind… I’d rescue them all!
Eater featured an AP food tour. Franks would be on my list, for sure. My other suggestions would be Loteria for great nachos and cheap eats, Kaya’s Kitchen out post in AP for satisfying vegan eats, and outside of AP: Meaberrie Market for awesome brunch.
Speaking of food, I want to eat basically every one of these cauliflower dishes. Especially this one! We are obsessed with cauliflower at this time of year bc it’s the only time we can get it package free.
What do you think is up with this unexplained monolith?? (OMG and now it’s gone???)
These artist’s masks made me want to create some masks, too.

Amazing weather photos.
I would have put The Philidelphia Story at number one, of course, as it’s one of my all time favorite films. But Bringing up Baby is pretty great, too!
I just found a cache of free Agatha Christie audio books and I can’t wait to get started!!
I’ve been craving potato pancakes. This seems like a good recipe.
What even is Canola and who knew it was so lovely?

I’m all about trying some quick lunches.
Are you watching The Mandolorian? Here is a spoiler rich article about the first episode of season two.

I’ve been wanting to make soy candles.
Canva seems like a cool program. Has any of my readers used it?
An interesting article of the origins of some spooky stories.
I was happy to spot this paste up by @sentimentalhogwash in a perfect fall setting.

I love these bold building portraits!
No one quite knows why someone released two large bags full of living eels into a lake in Prospect Park Brooklyn. And no one knows what the environmental repercussions will be.
Maybe I’m very old, but 1995 doesn’t seem so long ago. Local NJ kids recently opened a time capsule from that year and plan to create one to be buried in 2021. It will be opened in 2046. A very neat idea, but is it just me or were the contents of this time capsule very boring?
A list of towns to avoid during spooky season, or any season, really. What are some fictional towns you would want to visit?
Very cool and unique houses to buy in England.

Happy to report, the ghost is out!
This was a very interesting look at the contrast between American and British cop shows, the latter of which I am a big fan. Some obvious differences are noted (lack of guns, remote locations), but it also gets into more subtle differences.
I also really enjoyed this article detailing the 100 most influential cartoon sequences of all time. I feel like I’ve only seen less than half of them.
I’ve been listening to Agatha Christie’s Murder at the Vicarage read by Richard E Grant and it’s amazing!
Last week we met this fellow, we are calling him Martin for now. He appears in our yard and yells at us until we feed or pet him.

I love weird, interesting or odd buildings! If you’re looking for some animal themed buildings to visit, here’s a good list. Although one of these is in NJ, I have never been to any. I got really close to the Duck on long Island a few times, but I could never find it. Maybe it’s time for a road trip?
I want to try a few of these one pot vegetarian meals soon!
More studies to confirm that cat’s blink to say hello. My personal advice when meeting a new or standoffish cat is to make eye contact, slow blink and with eyes closed, turn your head away from the cat.
This was a sweet little reading interview with Neil Gaiman. I’ll have to check out a few of the books he mentioned.
There’s a plant shop by my house that is home to two fluffy cats! I got to meet one a little more closely the other day!

I wasn’t able to see the Harvest full moon last night, but my friend @mermaidtrousers got an amazing pic (above). This is the first of two October full moons, so hopefully I can catch the next one!
I don’t really believe that New Jersey is the food center of the world, but it is interesting to read all the different and diverse companies that call NJ home. Not listed is Sun Ramen, xx.
This is a bittersweet story of tic toc, humanity, and lack of dignified old age.
I thought this list of Banned Books, or those that people want to ban was fascinating. I was shocked at how many comics made it to the list.
I’ve been seeing some good mushrooms this week!

This is such a cool look at how London has changed over the years.
Was Forest Fenn a fraud?
”We should not settle for single-use plastics”
I’ve seen a few of these under 90 minute movies, but there are many that I haven’t seen or would rewatch.
Speaking of movies I super excited for the new version of Dune! Have you seen the trailer? I have never seen the Lynch movie, but will be watching that before I see the new movie. I’m also listening to the audio book now!

Love these gorgeous moth photos.
I’m low on garlic and onion powder. Now that it’s getting cooler, I think I’ll make my own.
I love the idea of a To Done list.
Think twice before you litter, your bad habit might come back to you two fold.
We recently bought two clearence pear trees to try our hand (again) at fruit trees. I did not realize they were late summer bloomers. Ours are NOT blooming, but I saw these blossoms on a nearby tree and wondered if it, too, was pear?

Very neat beach sculptures.
Bookshop.com seems like a very interesting endeavor. This Wired article tells more about the little book company taking on the big “everything store”.
Yes, please, I would like to live in a converted pub in England.
I only learned about a treasure hidden by an antiques dealer, but I’m fascinated by people who choose to do this. Forrest Fenn’s treasure was only recently found, and he just passed away.
You can tell it’s Fall and almost Halloween time when you come to this portend.

Two recent articles about the Reis Family that lives in LA in a big yellow bus.
Since becoming so interested in reading and books, I’ve also become re-interested in book shops. I’m always looking for places to buy used books since many book shops are still closed, or harder to shop at, and I want to avoid Am*zon if at all possible. One of the most famous and revered book shops in the world wants to avoid it also.
Naps are one of my favorite activities, if you can call sleeping an activity. This article on how long naps are bad for you won’t stop me!
I would not call these the funnest Douglas Adams quotes, but some of them I quite like.
This week I got to help an injured bird I found going into shock on the sidewalk. Unfortunately the best I could do was try to make her more comfortable in her last moments.

I usually post more happy things in this space. But I can’t stop thinking about this oil spill off Mauritious. It’s such an unique eco system and a largely unspoiled place, it’s devastating to think about this tragedy.
Now that I’m quilting again, I had a look at some quilting articles I’ve been meaning to read. I really liked this stash ramble from Blue Elephant Stitches.
I’ll do a more expanded post on this, but I am now obsessed with Books and Lala.
This was an interesting introduction to Shannon Hayes and her Radical Homemaker Lifestyle.
This is a cool look at different tarot cards. And this is only the tip of the iceberg.

Fascinating article about the history of separating a boys and girl clothes and toys section in stores.
I’ve gotten out of the habit of eating salads. Maybe this list of dressings to try might help?
I really like the idea of giving kids tools, not toys. I wonder if adults should have the same or the opposite?
What do you think about this list of the 10 best talking cats? I think I would add Ysma from The Emperor’s New Groove.

Every year there is a shark to keep tabs on. Let’s check in with May.
A fox and a thief.
Reading about some of New York Mag’s favorite foods of Brooklyn and Manhattan made me want to go on an eating tour of NYC. Once restaurants re open and it’s safe to travel to the city, of course!
I would love to visit some of these pools right now.

I love Fort Defiance in Red Hook, Brooklyn, and I am sad that it will no longer be a restaurant but I’m glad that many of my favorite spots are still open in some form and adapting to make it work.
You know I love abandoned places.
This looked like a delicious stuffed naan recipe.

One day I will need to buy new sneakers (maybe sooner than later, mine have holes in various places at the moment) and this photo essay on ethical options might help.
I have’t sat down to watch this video of just the sun as it’s over an hour long, but I want to!!
I thought this myth busting FAQ of masks was very good.
Cool video about a new punk zine.
